Uneven Skin Tone & Texture

Revive. Rejuvenate. Restore.  Laser Skin Care That Offers More

We Can Effectively Treat Uneven Skin Tone and Texture

At Amethyst Aesthetics, we use the Opus Plasma; this one-of a-kind radio frequency technology that effectively treats uneven skin tone and texture. It has great results for hyperpigmentation or melasma, scars including acne scars, and enlarged pores. Unlike other skin resurfacing treatments, the Opus Plasma does not remove entire layers of skin. This in turn causes fewer side effects and up to 50% less downtime. The Opus Plasma can treat more areas than any other conventional resurfacing laser treatment on the market, with twice the overall results.

Hyperpigmentation is an umbrella term used to cover numerous conditions where a patch of skin becomes noticeably darker. The cause of this uneven skin tone, known as hyperpigmentation, is the overproduction of melanin. The dark patches in the skin are typically perceived to be “aged spots” and can make you look up to 15 years older. Common causes of hyperpigmentation are outlined below:

Causes of Uneven Skin tONE

The cause of uneven skin tone, known as hyperpigmentation, is the overproduction of melanin. The dark patches in the skin are typically perceived to be “aged spots” and can make you look up to 15 years older. There are many factors that cause uneven skin tone including sun exposure, pollution, hormones, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation outlined below:

Sun Exposure

Skin damage occurs when the skin is repeatedly exposed to the sun’s UV rays. Brown spots and uneven skin tone develop as a result of excessive melanin being produced naturally to help the skin fight against UV light.

Pollution

Particles and gasses from air pollution and work-related environments are able to penetrate the skin, which can lead to brown spots most commonly surfacing on the face.

Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

This is commonly referred to as the darkening of the skin resulting from acne scarring or injury.

Melasma

Melasma is a specific type of hyperpigmentation caused partly by sun exposure and partly by hormonal changes in the body, hence being more prevalent in females.  It almost always targets the person’s face and is sometimes called “the mask”.  Melasma in pregnant women is referred to as “the mask of pregnancy”.

How to maintain an even skin tone:

The best tips we can give you are to engage in routine practices applying SPF, exfoliation as often as possible, and be patient to maintain an even skin tone. There is no quick fix for uneven skin tone by maintaining it naturally unless the maintenance had begun prior to noticing the issues.

However, we at Amethyst Aesthetics use the Opus Plasma; The only fractional laser of its kind on the market that penetrates the skin to effectively treat uneven skin tone, acne scars, and enlarged pores. Unlike many skin resurfacing laser treatments, the Opus Plasma does not remove entire layers of skin. Therefore, causing fewer side-effects and up to 50% less downtime. The Opus Plasma can treat more areas than any conventional resurfacing laser treatments on the market, with twice the overall results.
